Ok. I have an automatic and i want to get a new shift knob, but for starters, i need to get underneath the panel that my current shifter is placed in. You know, the one that says P-R-N-D-2-L. How do i take that damn thing off?
Could someone please give me some detailed instructions. It would be greatly appreciated. thanks
after you lift off the plastic, look on teh back of your shifter for a screw....unscrew that, yank the shifter up (it'll get stuck, cuz of the wires for the o/d) cut the wires and the entire shifter will come off in your hand....then just put your new shifter on, rewire the o/d to a switch of some sort, and you're done.
don't forget to cut your metal shifter thingy tho.....else your shifter will look like a long giant metal dildo sticking out of your center console.....
easiest to use a pipe cutter...
good luck

OK...took the screw off...now...the damn thing seriously doesn't budge. Did this happen or am i doing somethign wrong?
I took a look at rayray's picture thing...didn't really help...plus he has a 3.5 gen Camry (i think) and the shift knob is a tad different from the one that i have... is this why it's so f-ing hard to get off?
