Bought 2001 Solara..No Owners Manual...Need help with loading JBL SIX DISC CD PLAYER

I just perchased a 2001 Solara SLE and the previous owner could not locate the owner's manual.
The car is a convertible in like new condition but without the manual I'm completely in the dark about a lot of things like how do you load the JBL multidisc player and how do you program the visor mounted garage door opener?
Also there is a switch located between the map lights near the rear view mirror that says " DOOR ". The switch has "ON" and "OFF" markings.I don't know what this switch is for. Does it have something to do with the garage door opener?????
If somebody knows, please enlighten me...I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!!!!!!!

There is a button on the face plate that says "LOAD" this button must be pressed for each of the cd's when you want to load them. Hit the button it will say "WAIT" and then it will flash "LOAD". Ejecting them will be the same with the "EJECT" button next to the cd slot.

That switch is for the dome lights. If you turn it to "off", the interior lights will not come on at any time. If you turn it to "on" they will always be on. (Not recommended for long periods of time with the engine off) and if you switch it to "door", the lights will come on when you open the door, and depending on year, it may possibly stay on for 30 seconds after you close the door.

Instructions for the garage door opener: (These are for the 2007 Camry, but they should be the same)

1) park outside your garage.
2) hold the garage door remote 1-3 inches from the homelink buttons.
3) press and hold the garage door button and the homelink button simultaneously. (hold until done with step 4)
4) when the light on the homelink changes from a slow to a rapid flash (20-25 seconds), release both buttons.
5) test the homelink button you just programmed by holding down the button for 3 seconds. If it works, you're done... if it doesn't... continue with steps 6-7.
6) If it doesn't work- you have a garage door with a "rolling code" system, and you must tell your garage door to "train" the new homelink button. Go to your garage door and locate the "training" button (see garage door owner's manual). Press it, and do step 7 within 30 seconds.
7) Press and release the homelink button twice. If your garage door opens/shuts, you're done. If not, press the homelink button a third time, and programming should be complete.

NOTE: be sure to deprogram the homelink system when you sell the car, otherwise whoever you sell it to can get into your garage. Instructions below:

Press and hold the 2 outside buttons for 20-25 seconds until the light flashes. This will deprogram all the buttons.

Thanks fwhitehawk and 98CamryLE for the reply/info.
fwhitehawk,I knew about using the load button to load a single disc but do not recall seeing the "wait" readout when loading. I will try it again, following your instructions and pay close attention to see if the "wait" is displayed.

Thank You 98CamryLE for taking time to reply to my question about the opener. I've tried several times to program the opener with the craftman transmitter and also the " learn " button on the opener itself.
I even went to www.homelink.com and went to the programming title and pulled up the procedure specifically for that year/make/model car and still have been unsucessful with the programming.

ONE QUESTION: Is the unit in the car actualy a HOMELINK unit?
Like I said, I have no manual to refer to so I'm flying blind.
I'm going to try again using your instructions.
Are your instructions taken right out of the owner's manual?

Thanks Again!

In Camrys it is actually a Homelink transmitter. I'm not sure about the Solara Convertible. I'm pretty sure that all newer Toyotas that have integrated garage openers use the Homelink brand.

I'm sorry that my earlier directions didn't work.

Maybe you could find a cheap owner's manual on Ebay?

Thanks again 98CamryLE.
I'm not saying for sure that your instructions weren't right, cause they were pretty much the exact instructions given to me by the person I bought the car from.
The trouble is your pushing multiple buttons and holding buttons till lights blinks fast then slow..????...or is slow then fast..????...and press two times and release...NO...press and hold for two seconds...
See what I mean???

I've seen numerous posts of owners trying to get this thing programed and I think it's a matter of the correct sequence and how long do you hold the button / or how many times are you supposed to push the button.

You can go to the HOMELINK website and find a specific vehicle by year/make/model/body style and it tells you step by step how to program the opener or whatever other device you might have.

But since I posted this thread a thought came into my head.
As I have two vehicles and currently both cars have there own Craftsman transmitter in them plus I also have a Craftsman keypad mounted outside the garage door....If eventually I discover the secret to getting this visor mounted transmitter to function will I be unable to use my other Craftsman and keypad transmitter once the Homelink visor transmitter mounted in the Solara is programmed to the garage door opener?
That wouldn't be good because I'd now be able to operate the opener from the Solara but my wife's Craftsman transmitter wouldn't work anymore.
Is it possible for the opener to respond to the Homelink ransmitter as well as the two Craftman transmitters?

P.S. I went today to the Toyota Dealership and ordered a owner's manual for the 2001 Solara Convertibe/ they said a week to ten days.

I read in some instances to program the homelink, you may need to have someone push the button at the wall pad while you are pushing down the homelink button. It has something to do with rolling codes or the like, I can't remember. If you do a search it should pop up.

Eric.
