Question Headlight alternatives?

I've been searching for a while - trying to find aftermarket lights for my Camry *98*. I searched the forum and found out that I can't use the Gen4.5 lights *dammit *. So I'm trying to find some way to change the lights...the stock stuff is so bleh. I'm getting corner lights and I found some all white brake lights - but the actual headlights - I don't know what to do with. I'm not big on light intensity - I'm looking for the stylish look. Any help would be appreciated.

About the coolest look out there now is HID, all the fancy cars have it. I have a 98 camry XLe and am looking at doing a projector retrofit for HID headlights. That will give some serious light intensity, dont bag on it till you try it.

strobes/neons on Camry...

HIDs are a good option....and there are some threads in here that show custom work on retrofit and installation. Also, I've seen some projectors done, but not sure if they'll fit Gen4s. Plus, they're hella expensive.

If you're looking for style, well, I hate to break it to you, but there's not too much choice. The Gen4 headlamp dimensions don't allow a lot of room to work with. Talk to "thisdj78". He did HID fit on him Gen4/4.5

I have a source for the JDM Gen. 4 headlamps..they are diamond clear. They aren't cheap though, around $400 a pair.

2000 Camry JDM CRYSTLAL ANGEL EYE KIT

I saw something on E-Bay and quickly got it for my brother in law's 2000 LE V6 5 speed. It's a Crystal looking headlamp housing for the 2000 design Camry. It has Angel Eyes for the low beams. You can get it in 2 designs, black out or crystal. It's hott, i think you should have no problem retro fitting it to the '98 model.

97-99 will not accept a 00-01 headlamp, the designs are totally different.

Here's what a Gen. 4 diamond clear headlamp looks like in Japan:

you can retrofit it in.

just get a 4.5 bumper and corner lights

and also modify the harness to take low and high beams.

I just saw a picture of a Camry where a guy did that......it didn't look to good....the corner lenses didn't match the contour of the headlamps.

You forgot new grille, turn signals and drill some new mounting points. as well as add a new bracket for the grille.

Too much time if you ask me just for headlights that basically look the same. When you can DIY your own Angel Eyes and HID/Projectors for half the time and money.

I wish i had more time when i went abroad this year to buy such lighting, some models of the Camry's (the V6 Lumeire and V6 Grande - both made from toyota australia) had those clear lights for the gen 4 camrys. I LIked the way they light up at night. Apparently, the corner's are just for turn signals and DO NOT light up when the lights are turned on. One turn of the lights turns on some small lamp inside the headlight housing...but the corners are not illuminated...one more click and the actual headlight is lighed. I did go to the car accessory markets and didn't find much for gen 4 (or gen 4.5) camrys, more like seat covers, dash mats, Carb-fiber arm rests & carb-fiber sun visors (with camry etched on them). There were two kits for the Gen 5 camrys, but we already get them here (same as what Khan has). To sum it up...yeah, those lights DJ posted look sweet when lit up under that setup.

the 4.5 retrofit you would also require new fenders to allow for the larger side marker lights. the only problem with the gen4 is it's not a dual enclosure for the headlights, the gen4.5's are...HID enclosures usually have the projectors for low and another set for high...

unless you just want to run low beams all the time...

plus you would need a smooth clear lense on the headlight because the gen4 headlight lense would mess up the beam pattern...
