Problem with passenger side window on my 2001 Solara

This just happened today!
The window on the passenger side of my 2001 Solara goes down fine but when you try to close the window, it goes up very slowly and then stops.
When you try to raise it again it either dosen't respond or it goes up a short distance and stops again.
But when you activate the down, it seems to go down fine.
If the window motor was bad...wouldn't it also have a problem going down?

Does anybody know what's invovled with removing the door panel so that I can see if there is a binding problem?

Has anyone experienced this problem before?
I just saw a post on the Solara forum that sounds like the exact same thing.
But being that it was just posted today also, there was no replies to the lady's window problem which just happens to be a 2001 Solara passenger side window.
If this is a common problem maybe someone knows the fix.

Thanks!

Common problem. Most likely it's not your motor, but your window regulator; it's what lifts & lowers the window via the motor. I see they can be had on eBay, but I have no idea if those are decent quality or not. Here's an example:

Thanks BMR!

Will check it out.
What's involved with changing the regulator if that's the problem?

The inside door panel has to be removed. Then the regulator can be replaced working from that side. I'd recommend you pick up a Haynes manual or the like at an auto parts store to get detailed instructions. Well worth the $20 or so they cost.

Sounds more like the switch or the motor. Regulator don't usually act that way. Test for power at the motor connector with a test light or a multimeter when it is acting up.

N.E.O.
