Whats up again everyone !, well.. today we replaced our 4.5psi pulley and upped it to a 5.5 - 6psi pulley and we hit the dyno ! the car laid down 150.1hp and 152.8tq at the wheels with air\fuel ratio floating between 12 - 13%. These numbers is exactly what i expected to be running around 5.5psi so i am very happy with it. This is around 40hp and 54lbs or torque more to the wheels than stock, the car feels really good it actually feels like it has a bigger engine rather than just boost because it comes on so smooth. Max torque came in around 4000rpm so you can really feel it to start pulling hard there when you floor it and max hp came in between 5700 - 6200 so we know its using the whole RPM band. The car now makes as much hp as it did stock at around 4000rpm and way more torque right off the line compared to stock. When we took it up to redline while running it on the dyno and let off the gas the blow off valve is loud as hell ! sounds like a bus lol.. its not just a quick psshh but is stretched out like PPPSSSSSSSSSHHHHHH ahaha its kinda cool. So anyways this is pretty much my final update as far as the kit installation and tuning but will not keep everyone updated about any upgrades, maintainence and just plain o update on how things are going. What im doing next is changing my trans fluid and seals because its leaking a little bit out from the axels and putting in a redesigned alternator relocation bracket that Ross had sent to me which should solve my belt squeeling problem. I hope everyone is impressed about the kit and the results as much as we are !!.. enjoy
This is the rippmods kit right? $3500 bucks and only 150whp? Sorry, not impressed. The V6's put down that much or more with 5 speed. I think I am going to stay with my NA buildup. Thought about trying to fit rippmods on my car, but for 3500, plus what it would cost for installation and whatever extra crap I need to run more boost to get the dyno numbers rippmods was talking about, I would be spending like 4500 bucks. I still thunk the Rippmods setup is very high quality and has a lot of potential but that is not nearly cost effective enough for me. I am sure I can beat your 150whp with only 2000 to 2500 into my engine.
As for the naysayers.
It's not like that's all he can do.
The kit is in its infancy and Shook's car is more or less the first real street application.
Rippmods is running the tester camry at 10 PSI and they are making gains of almost 100 hp at the wheels with stock internals to boot.
I'm sure you will be able to get better gains for less price, however, doing an NA buildup requires a lot of in-depth engine knowledge and time. Now time is something that many people lack and may be unable to spare, for these people the Rippmods kit is a very good alternative. Likewise for people that don't know (or don't want to know) a whole lot about their engine the same prinicple applies.
If I had the time I would plan out a full turbo kit for my car and would probably be able to beat Rippmods price, but the problem is this path requires time and engine/mechanical knowledge, two things which I do not possess in abundance.

I never said it was a bad kit or that people shouldn't get it. Just said that it's not for me. Of course it was never meant to be for everyone I am sure.
Ok this is my point of view, like Yanahdi said Ross and his inhouse tester 5SFE Camry is putting out 191hp and 197ft.lbs of torque at 9psi and water methanol injection and on top of that its stock internals. Ross is trying to see how much the engine with its stock internals can put out with his kit.. IM NOT, i bought this kit to get a little more power and for my car to be more well rounded as far as looks, weight and power. Ok 40more hp at the wheels and 52ft.lbs of torque more isnt world record breaking but its alot more than a 4cyl camry is making and everyone knows 40hp at the wheels more than stock is alot. Burien toyota 5SFE turbo kit is $2500 and they say it puts out about 45hp more to the wheels at around 5 - 7psi, now $2500 doesnt include any type of electronics and fuel pump and regulator add that in and youll easily get over $3000 and Rippmods 5SFE SDS kit is going for $3200 so the price isnt bad at all. Getting 40whp and 52ft.lbs of torque more at the wheels safely is great and keep in mind this is only 5.5psi and isnt not the max the engine and definately not the max this kit can put out.

sorry about that.
When I read your post I just felt that there was a real negative connotation to what you were saying.
Geez, I completely missed the last two sentences of your post.
I'm sorry didn't mean to rage on ya.

It's cool. Rippmods makes excellent products and it's the only reliable kit us 4cyl guys have. I give them props for stepping up to the plate and doing it.
I just think a different route would better suite me.
I've really been looking arround at different options. from what I can tell rippmods is putting out one of the most reliable and least harmful products to your engine. This is the way I plan on going if I decide not to swap the engine.
Yup its definately a good option to go with.. the car really feels like it has alot more HP and Torque.. it pulls hard and picks up fast. So far we've had no major problems at 5.5psi and Ross said that if the car keeps running good like it has that this is what he would set as stage1.. in other words if you purchase the kit youll get the same pulley making the same amount of boost as i am right now unless you wanted to take it higher. I also just recieved the redesigned alternator relocation bracket and this one will work and we'll be able to route the belt the correct way which will stop our belt slipping and maybe even gain a little more boost because the belt will now grab around the shaft pulley alot better.. ill let you know how everything goes.
but my personal opinion is if you were to spend that kind of money, a better option would be to swap in a V6....you'll get more power/torque than even you're showing right now w/ the upgraded pulley.....
but still....I likey- just to be able to say you're blowin'

it doesn't sound like much of an increase but it hard to say without driving the car, nevertheless sounds heaps better than stock and good to see the Rippmodds product doin well. and also for what you've done shook....but when will we see that 10psi pulley go in?
congrats for all the work you've done and Rippmodds for makin a great product....personally i'd go turbo, but for the price you got the SDS for and all the support i think it's worth it....
Glad to see you are pleased with your gains shook. It really is amazing how much different 40hp feels while driving. At 5psi in my turbo kit, I thought it was great, but now at 10 the car actually pulls like a turbocharged car! I'm happy for you shook! Happy Boosting!
