parking lights problem

This is a challenging one. I have a 99 camry with auto light system. The parking and dash lights stopped working when you use the switch. At night, all the lights come on automatically. Checked the switch, fuses, and relays (the ones I could see in the engine compartment), and all are OK. Car failed inspection and I do not know what to do.

Check the fuses inside the car, I think it is the tail light fuse that feeds your parking lights. Fuse block should be somewhere on the driver's side underneath the dash.

I misunderstood you when you said only the ones you can see in the engine compartment, probably just the relays.

Possibly the light switch or the auto-light control computer, which I believe is behind the glove box; unless the wiring is open somewhere, maybe in the steering column. Probably have to get a wiring diagram to trace it out.

Time for a wiring diagram to trace the circuit and locate the cause.

For short term, you can cover the sensor on top of the dash to trig the system to turn on the lights; of course, it will be on all the time, unless you switch it off.
