Uncomfortable 2009 driver's seat

I just returned from a 1000 mile trip in my new 2009 Camry SE w/leather seats. I absolutely loved the car's handling, gas mileage -- everything except the driver's seat. My legs & back hurt half-way through the trip that I thought I would have to pull over & let someone else take over for a while. After a few days rest, back on the road & the same thing. I tried playing with the seat as far as moving it back & forward & also taking the lumbar out completly but still no help. The leg pain I could handle, but the back was the worst.

I love this car other than the driver's seat and am wondering if I'm just crazy or if any of you have experienced this in the new '09 cars w/leather interior. If so, any suggestions on making it more comfortable?

I can't speak for the SE but yes, I do find the leather on my XLE seats a bit on the hard side.

What is your general body size and proportion? I've read many such comments about many cars over the years. I've concluded that this is just a very personal thing, and a good reason to rent an example of a car you like before you buy.

My version? I'm six feet tall, 210lbs or so (normal build), but have a relatively long trunk and short legs. Though I loved my Prius, the seats hurt my low back, bad. I kept it at bay with a cheezy Wal-Mart vibrating, heated seat cushion. Looked awful in the car, but couldn't have kept it without. By contrast, my 09 TCH (leather seats) seems supremely comfortable, and my back feels great -- no signs of the problems I had in the Prius. My 19 year old son, two inches taller than I is now driving the Prius, and seems to have zero problems (but then again, he's only 19...).

Try as they may, the engineers just aren't going to find a seat that makes everyone happy. Hope it works out for you.
