many people that i talk to talk about modding bmw's, neons, civics, pontiacs, and many other cars, yet find it hard to believe that anyone would want to mod a camry.
daily im asked why i put money into my gen3. my answer... because i can and because i love it.

so i ask, why do you all mod your camry?
Other than putting 2001 Solara rims on mine, I haven't done any mods. I like it just the way I bought it when it was new. Oh, I forgot about the lumbar support that I installed in the seat back and the aluminum kit that I put on the dash.

I think it has to do with the image the Camry is marketed as. It's not a sports car or jap tuner, but a reliable family sedan. That's why people are going "Wtf?!?!"
Well, its all i had to begin with so you work with what you got. But once you start to make a car better and make it your own you deffinately become attached to it and want to make it the best it can be.

i love camrys....i love having something comfortable, reliable, efficent and decent looking that i can toy with a bit and have it be something unlike anything else on the road...
people see modded civics and integras everyday, but a modded camry will turn heads

haha I completely agree, i bought my camry because I loved it -- I modded it because I wanted to be different and have the car as my own.
the camry doesn't have a lot of support out there, but I bet once there's a larger market there'll be parts left and right for it..
my camry turn heads, then they laugh -- even the mechanic I was doing my brake system stated that it was a mom and pop car... that left me kind of broken inside.

I didn't want my Camry to look like everyone elses. Plus I piss off my wife everytime I add something. She wanted me to leave it totally stock. Well, other than foglights, wood dash kit, painted pinstripes and mud guards, its totally stock. Wait til she finds out I've got new wheels ordered.
i've got a gen 2. i modded mine because my buddy had a civic and all his friends had honda's. they thought they were all cool, and then looked at me and said i should buy a honda. i took my camry and did what i could to prove them wrong. lowered 2", rolla wheels, gen 5 spoiler, sound system, and jdm head. now they look at it and go "damn thats a nice looking car"

Well, other than belonging to the infamous 'can't just leave it alone can you?' club, being just like everyone else just won't do. Fell into owning the camry due to an accident, but have grown to really love the car, especially since I've been able to improve the handling exponentially. So figured, why stop there? I like aftermarket gauges as idiot lights just won't cut it, and why not make it look sporty? They look like a whole different car when they're done, and as been said over and over, because ya can, and they're not commonly done, but afterwards look sexy as hell and yes, a they can become a real head turner. Civic's I find are a dime a dozen, camrys? only a handful around that are done up more than just slapping on a different set of rims.

glad to see this post finally picked up. good to see that others mod their camry's too. they do look sexy as hell when your done. they look sexy stock. if only we could make our 4 bangers fast without lots of cash
my first camry i modded cuz it was what i had and i jsut wanted to make it look better. fell in love with the coupe and got one when my other camry was destroyed. then got an excelent deal on my gen4 and missed my coupe so when it was avalible i bought her back from eyeball96.
i mod them cuz i love the reliability and how rare they are to see modded. given ive ALWAYS had V6s so it already had a little punch. plus i realize they are good as daily drivers even when modded moderatly. i would never presume to recommend a camry for a good fast car project. the gen4 even with the S/C was a dog compared to other cars but it looked cool and i love the look you get when they see a modded camry thats done well and has some bite...even if its a puppy bite.
having owned gen 3 sedan and coupe and a gen4...its clear that the coupe is IFTW.
