Yes, it's quite possible to get 250k out of one (see my sig line). Many folks besides me have more than that. I've done nothing out of the ordinary, except oil changes every 3k miles (the manual recommends every 3750 miles for severe duty), but it's impossible to say if that's necessary or not. I'd say a certain amount of luck is involved too.
