Hey I was wondering...Well to start the story off I bought some Nokya 80 watts 9006 bulbs for my car... they were real blue and they were coo for about 4 months then one went out.

At first I thought the bulb was just bad, then I looked closely and I see it all burnt and melted together (left light) and im like WTF??.... and the guy that sold me the lights told me that the lights would be safe for my stock pigtails.

So I went back to that place and showed him and he told me that those lights could have been a defect. So I was like ok and just left without giving him any problems or snappin.

Then I went to SCA and they had the Eurolights and those were 55watts so it would kinda be the same brightness as the stock lights but with a blue tint like the lexus and the acura so I decided to buy those and they were fine eversince.

Now I went to the shop that sold me those nokya's with my cousin and I ask him what would be good for his car. (my cousin has a 96 camry LE) and he gave him some piaa's 80 watts and I told the guy that I had a bad expierence with the 80 watts bulbs and my stock draws 51 watts of power so the eurolights were perfect for me..

So then he said that I could change the fuse. WTF?? Change the fuse??? then he said that my cousin could buy this upgraded pigtail set with thicker wire near where the light and the harness connects... he didnt want to do that....

so then yesterday we went to SCA and asked them and the guy said that you should never upgrade the fuse cause that can cause a fire. Well to me.. that made more sense. But I need feedback from you guys.. Have anyof you ever got 80 watt bulbs and plugged them to your stock pigtails and have had them for over 5 months and have not had them burn out?? Cause I dont want my cousin to run into the same problem that I did because of some stupid dude giving me B.S. information. Thanks for all responses

It's highly recommended that you use bulbs that will draw the same wattage as stock (55watts). If not, you run the risk of melting your wire-harness.

What you need to understand is that higher wattage doesn't equate to more light output. As an extreme example, HIDs (the real deal, not HyperWhite bulbs) draw very little pwr, yet still manage to produce the most intense light. Albeit different technology and all, but you get the point.

If you want higher light output (measured in Lumens not Watts) you have several choices;
1. Upgrade your wireharness, whether it's bought from SUVlights.com or homemade (ask Silver or Elegant)
2. Do a 9005 to 9006 conversion
3. Try other brands of bulbs (ie. Sylvania Cool Visions or whatever)
4. Save your money and get real HIDs (which is what I would do)

Thanks PHI see I knew that the guy who sold me those 80 watt ones didnt know what he was talking about. And He dont even own a camry so what does he know. He's giving me feed back from Honda owners not camry owners. So thats why I asked here and look... better answers. Thanks again.
