Oil change and type question

Hi everybody. I'm from Holland and just signed in here. I already learned a lot from this forum.
There's something what I like to explaned:
I'm the owner of an Camry 2.4 year 2002. Ad advice of the garage I change the oil from this car every 9300 miles (15000 Km). Now the car has 245000 km on the counter. No problems at all.
1 month ago I bought an Camry from America. This is an 2.4 Camry LE from 2007. (both engines are the same)

On this forum I read that the oil must be changed every 3000 miles. Can anyone tell me why that is ?

On my 2002 camry I use an half synthetic 10w40 oil.
Should it be safe to use this oil on my 2007 camry ?

The manufacturer's recommendations for older vehicles often specify more frequent oil change intervals. For my 92 Camry, it's 3750 miles for "severe" duty and 7500 miles for "normal" duty. I've been doing it at 3000 for most of it's life, mostly because of my old habits, which I recently changed.

As for using the half synthetic oil, sure you can. As long as it meets Toyotas recommendations for viscosity and API rating, it should be fine.

Many people on this forum still use the 3000 miles oil change interval to give themselves added insurance in protecting their engines against wear. It's probably not necessary, but I still do it. Toyota recommends 5000 mile oil changes intervals on the 07 Camry 2.4 liter engine. Incidently, Toyota recommends using 0W-20 or 5W-20 oil for the 2007 2.4 liter engine.

Thanks for help everone.
Maybe it's because the conditions in America are more extreme then by me in the Netherlands.
When its winter, the tempreture wil not com below 10 degrees celcius and in summer not above 34 degrees celcius.

Speaking of Oil change. Just bought a used 2007 Camry, 4 cylinder with 25k miles. Live in Houston, Texas. Got over 300k miles on my 95 Camry using synthetic Mobil 1. Would like to get the 2007 on the synthetic. Like the Mobil 1. what do you suggest?

Yestday I changed oil. It didn't make me happy to see how thin the used oil was. This oil was still very clear so not used for many miles.

Like my 2002 camry I use now an half synthetic 10w40 oil. Now the motor of my 2007 Camry is much quiter with this oil. I go to keep it this way, and wil change oil (like my 2002 Camry), every 15000 km.

Don't get me wrong, I have no experiance with an 10 w 20 oil, It may be good stuff to. I don't know, its my feeling.
