my other thread explains in more detail, but basically the offset on these new rims is too big, and so on the front the tyres scrape the inner guard on full lock, and the rear has thick spacers, but the nuts do not have much thread to hold the wheel on. i'm going to get proper adaptors made up wheen i can, but will be $$$
Just had another look, maybe you should slap that bumper back on, minus a big chunk in the middle. A front collision, theives or road debris could be bad news.
nah nah boys its not in yet. i'm hoping to have it in before Jan 18, as there is a dyno day a toyota club is running and i want to see what my car can do. i still need the fuel pump (got a guy sourcing one), and i've got a guy sending me an ST205 oil pan, sump, oil pickup, and oil pump in a few days. other than that i need things like oil/water lines, fittings etc, and gauges.
just i thought, what do you guys reckon i should do with the front? leave it, take off the indicators, put the bumper (same colour as car) back on (albeit modified to accept the intercooler)?
LOL Deep, was writing asking what to do with front, then post message and see you had already mentioned something about it. yeah wouldnt want theives taking my intercooler, and you cant exactly padlock it down.
P.S. thanks for the props guys

First off the project is looking good. As for the front, it would be really sweet if you could find a kaminari body kit for the gen 2. They stopped making them a while ago, but a couple of them linger around. The front has a huge spot for an intercooler. Maybe just leave the bumper off, I think it looks sweet the way you have it.
Damn mate that looks crazy....ur living up to ur name pretty well
did you end up rebuilding the turbo? and roughly how much will this set you back all up?
bumper wise, just modify it to allow for some intercooler space but even as you have it now it looks good, all you need to do is cover the areas that aren't taken up by the intercooler and indicatiors....but don't know if the RTA will let you go or the cops....so just modify the bumper....
okay what i've decided to do is get a custom bumper made up sometime (hopefully early) next year. this will mean that i can have a hole for the tranny cooler which the stock bumper could not provide. also will be a large central opening for the intercooler, GTR style. the hopes of getting a kaminari front bar down to australia are next to nil, pity, cause they do look nice.
yeah the turbo got rebuilt, final cost was $1177 . done by GCG, sydney people will have probably heard of them, one of the best around (i bloody well hope so!). it had been rebuilt a couple of times before apparently, and needed a fair bit of stuff done like a 'bore and regrind'?
never been pulled over by cops since the bumper's been off, even when there were no indicators on the front (looks better that way). we'll have to see when there's a big shiny intercooler there though
