it could be a typo. That site says that jdm gen 3's came with 3SGE engines in them which would make them somewhat bolt on, but I was told by toyota and posts on here that mounting that block in requires custom mounting. Maybe Sportivo can shed some light on this.

tru but i dont think that they would make the typo mistake about the motor several times on different pages.
yeah, but i don't think toyota used 3sgte on so many different models...granted they had 5 sales divisions over there but that's too much duplication...even GM mixes things up a bit

It comes in FW and AWD drive for both the wagon and the sedan.
Ok, so it wasn't a typo. How does the 2MZ have half a liter less than my engine, but still make more power? The c/r is 10.8...it's only .3 higher than my 1mz. Is that how it's making the extra power? Considering that it seems more efficient, why wasn't it brought over to NA?

I'm guessing mainly cause due to the emissions restrictions here they retard an engine greatly. Also the 2M was more a less an expermental engine, they changed it i believe like 2 times while in production to try to get more bang for the buck. If you think gas here in $$$$ try getting gas there. Take a Stock JDM 2JZ and a Stock USDM 2JZ, the J-Spec one will always own the US one.
The reason the 2M wasn't brought over is becasue the 1M was actually made for use outside of Japan although they do have J-Spec 1M. While the 2M was specially for Japan and a few other countries.
