97 3S-FE? I hope you meant to say 5S-FE.
MSD 6A won't work cos you have DIS (distributorless ignition system).
Can you explain how do I go about installing these two items? I have a tutorial for a Tercel, I think it's more or less the same. But I don't want to mess up.
I have an MSD 6A installed in my camry. It is pretty easy to determine if you have a distributor...look at the driver side of the motor, do all the plug cables come out of a distributor or not. If they don't, they should go to two dual output coils, if this is the case, you can still install the MSD DIS2 but you should replace your coils with the MSD dual output DIS coils. In either case though, you will also need to have the MSD Tach Adapter (Part Number: 8910 EIS). The install is pretty clear in the instructions, and the tach adapter also has install instructions (or you can download the install instructions from msdignition.com). As a note, if you are putting an MSD ignition in just about any EFI Toyota, you will probably need that specific Tach Adapter. Ohh, and you will also want the MSD Blaster SS coil to replace your stock coil (just as a precaution, there is a good chance the stock coil will not handle the MSD all that well)
