1995 Camry Fuse Box

My radio, clock, cig lighter, rear driver side window, white reverse lights and Gear Letters dont work. I want to see if I have a bad fuse but I dont know where the fuse box is. I have read that there are different places for my car but I dont know which is for which. Can someone please help?

Here's a little background on each problem.

Radio, Clock, Cig Lighter stopped working when I tried plugging in my cell phone car charger and it sparked.

Rear Driver Side Window - This is the only window that does not work.

White Reverse Lights - I dont how this happened but it does not light when I am reversing. I already changed the bulbs

Gear Letters - None of the letters light on dash when I shift gears.

First one check the lighter fuse, it should be behind the coin box, I think.

Second maybe a little more complicated, possibly the switch, but it can also be wiring or motor, need some testing to find out.

If the shift indicator is not working, it could be the Park/Neutral switch or the fuse, it may be the cause for the reverse lights too. You will need a wiring diagram to start checking.

Don't have a '95 but think the coin box is the one to the left of the steering wheel. Squeeze the sides after opening it if I remember correctly. Should be others under the hood.

It was behind the coin box. I found the fuse for the radio, clock and replaced it and all is well.

As for shift indicator and reverse lights, where is this Park/Neutral switch or the fuse for it located?

P/N switch is on the transmission, just follow the shift cable.

BTW, forgot to mention, you might want to check the harness by the left trunk hinge too, it is very common that wires break around there.

Sometimes they don't need to physically break into two; anyway, check to make sure the bulbs are good too. Otherwise, check the Park/Neutral switch. Do you have shift indicators in your instrument cluster/

My company electrician looked at my wiring for the reverse light and all is good. Since the R was the only letter not lit on the dash when shifting he felt it was a sensor or contact issue when shifting gears. He opened up the area under the gear shift and noticed old dried up liquid was there. He did his best to clean it and now I have the R lit on the dash and my reverse lights work occasionally. However, you sometimes have to wiggle the shifter when it is in the R position to make it light. Now that I know it is not the wire, how can I make that R light more easily without wiggling the shifter?

Also, I noticed at night the PRND is not lit on the base of the gear shifter and the air control knobs on the dash arent lit either on the air flow (low, med, high), temp setting and air directional. How do you make those light up at night?

Check your Park/Neutral switch at the transmission; that is where the power and signal comes from for the indicator lights in the dash and the back-up lights.

You probably need to replace some illumination bulbs to correct those items you had mentioned. Since the electrician hard took apart your shifter, the bulb should be right there for your shift indicator illumination.

Shouldnt the Park/Neutral switch be fine since I am getting light in the PND and the only one not lit is the R. I am assuming this switch is an all or nothing thing. Am I wrong?

I understand that bulbs need to be replaced for the illumination lights for the PRND underneath the gear shifter. What bulbs or fuses control the night illumination for the AC/Heater on the dash?

Not necessarily since there are different pins in the P/N switch; since it is located below the battery, acid from the battery can cause damage to the switch. At least inspect the connector.

The same fuse for the dash illumination lights. There are bulbs that you can replace for the illumination for the A/C control. Similar type of bulbs for the shifter.

Would I have to look underneath the car to examine the P/N switch? I dont know exactly where to look for that. I know it is by the transmission but I dont know where the transmission. I am not the most car literate person.

I'm confused. To fix the lumination on the A/C control is a bulb or fuse? If it is a fuse, I believe the fuse panel is behind the coin bucket. If it is a bulb, where would I need to look to replace that bulb?

The P/N switch is a bit obscured by the battery from the top, so it may be easier from underneath the car, unless you remove the battery and tray.

The dash lights and the A/C ill lights are on the same circuit, so if the dash lights are working, the fuse is good. In other words, it is the bulbs. You will need to disassemble the A/C control to replace the bulbs.
