AC Cooling

The AC on my 1995 Camry stops blowing cool air after driving for 30 minutes. I already added some freon but still no good. It blows real cold air in the beginning of the drive but not after 30 minutes. On a warmer day, the cool air only lasts around 15 minutes. What's wrong?

One of my friends told me it's the expansion valve but I dont know. Please help.

You will need a A/C manifold to check the pressure to see if it is indeed the expansion valve. The symptoms sound like it is but the pressure will tell you for sure.

when it stops coolng again, go open your hood and check to see if your rad fan is turning full speed. It may be on its way out.

Check fan first. It should be running when compressor is on.
Does it blow cool air again if you turn A/C off, wait for a while and turn back on?

It would have to be off for a long period of time but I am not in the car long enough to know that. What I do know is that when it stops working and I park my car and not use it again for a few hours, the AC works again when I turn it back on again after a few hours.

If fan is working and freon is enough(check sight glass) then it might be expansion valve is frozen or clogged by moisture or dirt in system. You need manifold gauge to check the pressure to determine. Either case you have to recover freon, open up the system, flush if there is dirt, replace dryer and then recharge freon.
