I've got the TRD Lowering kit (Eibachs/Bilsteins) and I need to know what size will fill out the fender gap the best.
I'm considering a 225/45 size tire.
Can you guys give me any input if this tire size will fill out well for 16" or should I try a larger sidewall?
Thanks in advance.
BTW I'm currently running 205/65/15 size tires on 15" black steelies. These tires fill the gap pretty well, I want the same if not more gap to be filled up.

k, my rents just got a gen 5, came with trd suspension, rides pretty low, like from the side view you can't see the very top of the tire, and they are brand new snow tires, and on the side it says p215, thats the only number i could find, and the rims are 16'', hope this may help
i have a set of 16's and i'm running 205/55ZR16 tires on them. that was what we calculated would keep the speedometer exactly the same as stock size 14" rims, since my pops is annoying about that stuff.....

actually what I'm looking for is the second series of numbers (the sidewall %)
when you look at the tire you should see three divisions of numbers:
example --> 215/45/17
In your case Fresco I really want to know the second division of numbers if you could find that out it would be a big help.

Actually, 225/45/16 will have a noticeably smaller diameter than your current tire. 225/50/16 will be better, but still a little smaller than stock. 225/55/16 will be closer to stock, although just slightly bigger than the stock diameter. I'm using that size on my 01 Solara with Eibachs and Tokico struts. Fills up the wheel wells nicely.
The higher the first number, the larger the diameter of the wheel. The LOWER the second number is, the WIDER the tire is. The last number is for the size of the Rim it will fit around.
Now, that Letter that you see somewhere around the size is the SPeed rating. The higher the letter rating the better the tire for High speed driving. Anything over R or S is good for driving over 100+.

That's not quite correct. Using 225/45/17 as an example, the first number, 225, is the width of the treaded part of the tire, expressed in millimeters. The second number, 45, is called the aspect ratio. That is a measure of the sidewall height, expressed as a % of the tread width. Therefore, the sidewall height is 45% of 225 or 101.25 mm. You're right about the last number, which is the rim diameter, expressed in inches.
If you're currently using 205/65/15's you can use:
205/60/16
215/55/16 (what I'm using)
225/55/16 (riskier but should work depending on offset of rims)
I know for the 4 cyl Camry, the stock size tire is actually 195/70/14, but your 4 banger is the same as my V6. The sizes above are for my V6, stock size 205/65/15.

ahh yes good info everyone, I highly appreciate it.
My 99 Solara came with 195/65/15 but I upgraded to the 205.
Ok, judging from the input so far I may try and go with 225/50(or 55)/16 if the 225/45/16 doesn't fill it up, either way I gotta wait about 7-10k until my current tires go.
BTW Fresco Bob: P215/60R16 is the same as 215/60/16 as far as sizing goes.
Now since that's solved does anyone have any gripes about Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s? These are the tires I'm planning on getting.

Actually I may have made a mistake. I dunno if the stock 14" camry tire size is 195/70/14 or 195/65/14...I'm sure someone who has 14"s can confirm that.

If your car came with 195/65/15, then the 225/50/16 size would probably be your best bet. It's almost exactly the same diameter as your stock tires.
Thanks for the correction. Thats what I love about TN; when someone committs an error, they get corrected without flaming.
Anyways, when choosing a type of tire remember that some are louder than others. I bought 2 Yokohamas for the rear and they are loud! They make this humming noise that gets annoying after a while. Especially between 20-40mph!
I found that Michelins are the best for me. They are quite and grip pretty good. They are also some of the most expensive
