2000 camry thermostat

Good Morning:

I own a 2000 camry and it only has 61,000 miles. I am going to change the coolant and want to know
is it necessary to also change the thermostat at this point? The parts rep at the dealership said it is a
good idea to replace it but I have never replaced one after changing the coolant. Is he just trying to sell me a thermostat? Thank you for your input on this>

Usually not necessary unless you are experiencing some sort of cooling system related problem.

changing coolant

Good Morning:

I forgot to mention one thing from my last posting. I am changing the coolant on my 2000 camry
after 61,000 miles (I have never changed it previously). Should I remove the lower radiator hose
that goes into the radiator or just drain the coolant from the white stop **** valve at the bottom of
the radiator. In other words, what is the best way to drain all of the coolant out?

Thank you

What engine?

To get the most coolant out also remove the engine drain plug.

After draining the system, remove the T-stat and flush the engine with clean water. Do the same for the radiator.

If you want to go a step further, remove a hose going to the heater core and flush it with water.

If you really want to drain more coolant out there are drains for the block, one on each side of the V6 and one at back side of the 4.
