USA P0137 code on 2005 Camry SE

Hi all,

I have a 2005 Camry SE, and every 3-4 starts it kicks the check engine light on. OBD scan tool shows a P0137 code. So it looks like either the upper (exhaust manifiold) O2 sensor, or the post Cat-converter O2 sensor is likely bad. I know it might mean the Cat-converter may be going bad too, but I hope not, after just 64000 miles.

Can anyone tell me which of these two O2 sensors is most lilkely the problem?

Thanks much!

Thx NEO for the advise!
BTW - after the 3rd clearing of the P0137 code, it hasn't returned.

To add a bit more background to the issue, the error first occured when outside temps dipped to the mid twenties. I've also replaced the air filter (which was very dirty). Since outside temps jumped ~20degrees, I haven't seen the error.

Don't know if either temps or new air filter had any affect on the condition not returning. Waiting for the next cold-spell...

It is very possible that temperature may have something to do with your problem. Even though the sensor itself has an heater element to keep it within the optimum operating temperature, if the sensor was cooled off by outside element, like driving over a puddle of icy cold water, it just might affect its operation.
