WHAT SHOULD I DO?????
JUst get yourself a V6 camry ... if that doesnt satisfy you ... Get different car...
There are many built 6spd Supras out there that are switching to automatic transmissions on purpose. If your goal is to go stinking fast in a straightline, a built automatic with a properly matched stall converter will shift faster, out-launch and out-accelerate than a 6spd.
I am not sure if you are familiar with automatics, but a high stall converter with very long gears will allow the car to accelerate in its absolute best RPM range without ever falling off its powerband -- yes, continously. An automatic uses torque converters (fluid driven), which dampens drivetrain shock and greatly increases traction off the line... Sort of like a clutch-slip technique on a 6spd, but even better.
So if both Supras are laying down 700WHP, one 6spd and one auto for example... The 6spd Supra will have less traction at launch than an automatic, and also the 6spd will fall off its powerband or at least accelerate at a much lower part of the power curve between shifts. The automatic on the other hand, will have a better launch and be accelerating in the best powerband because of the higher stall even between shifts (in most cases, they run 4500+ RPM stall). Most of these built automatics are running also 3spd automatics because they want very long gears... I mean LONG gears. Their 2nd gear can go upwards of 100 mph to give you an idea. I will try to find you a video of a built automatic accelerating or something to let you grasp the concept. For large turbo-powered cars, the automatics makes far superior... So what is lag and recovery time? There is no such thing as lag on an automatic car...
There are still too far many people that hate automatics for no apparent reason other than it being slow, and I get annoyed when they dog on them without even knowing their potential Sure they are slow in stock form, but if all they want is straightline speed to smoke most of the cars out there, they should have kept it automatic and get it built IMO. It will be much cheaper than paying for a 5spd swap, a new clutch and LSD, flywheel and shifter assembly (pedal, MC, cables, labour).

I doubt your parents want you to get an std.
I really don't belong posting on this thread since I know close to nothing about torque bands and what not about engines. Basically, listen to whatever Tony has to say. He word reigns supreme.

To add to Tonys remarks...
The One of the Fastest supras right now has a 2speed automatic... And the Thing runs 8.82 in a 1/4mile...
The fastest DSM is an auto.. 7.818sec 1/4 mile traps at about 175mph. A properly modded automatic is no joke. What are the fastest auto supras running?

its supposedly street legal...
But that DSM is a pure race car, gutted and all that... Fastest 6speed is Titan I think his running 8.54 in a 1/4mph ... But, if your talking about off all time I would have to say The Solara 6 sec Twins ( they're nothing but supras in sheeps clothing) and the Venoms 6 Sec Tundra...
I haven't updated myself with the current Supra records, but in the past I have seen a couple of 7sec Supras... The Venom one runs 7.9's last time I read, and VTR's is mid 7's I think... These are not the street ones though.
The Titan one that ran 8.5 is a street Supra... it doesn't run a slick, just a BFG drag radial... Pretty Impressive. There are also quite a number of private Supra owners/enthusiast with 9 sec passes on drag radials on Supraforums, which I find very impressive. No gutting, etc.. and probably with full audio equipment too

one of my boys works on supras, has 4 in his driveway and garage (3 mk3 and 1 baby mk4) and has like 3 spare engines (7mgte)... he knows his shit. ANYWAYS, he actually prefers auto to standard in a supra. the supra auto trannys are TOUGH too... you can always get a performance auto tranny.
this is very true guys but my next car will either be a SC430 or a twinturbo MKIV Supra 6speed. Why ??? Because I just like having controll over the gears. Plus, its going to be my Street Cruiser/Pimp car... I just want twin GT25R turbos on that bad boy... So, I'll take the 6speed with a triple or 4 disc Carbon Fiber Tilton Clutch please...
