Car Totaled???

my mom was driving the camry and a truck hit her as she was crossing an intersection. it was the truck's fault. too bad it was a hit and run. their were witnesses but the truck stopped, took off his plates and took off on foot. the truck was not registered so that sucks too!!!

well what do u guys think??? fixable??? totalled??? the car has 84k miles. how much should we get from insurance?? thanks!!!

well what i can see thats broken is just teh hood, fender, wheel, headlight and bumper. not sure whats behind the fender there that could of been damaged. does the car still drive properly? should be fixable.

in my accident they replaced both fenders and a hub cap, fixed a dent in the door, fixed the wheel(it was 2inches from the back of the wheel well) and painted the front half of the car. came to 4800, which i think was a bit to much.

im not sure how yur insurance works there, but here you just get a list of approved places to get it fixed, take it there, they fix it, you pay the deductable.

oh forgot to mention that the wheel was also damaged, and their was pink fluid (probalby tranny fluid) coming out. the wheel sits at an angle to the ground.

wow.....really bad hit.....ROFL at the trucker who actually got out and took the license and ran

about the damaage, im thinking around $5000 to $7000 worth of stuff....the pink stuff are most likely to be the coolant. so your radiator is probably gone....

hood, fender, bumper, light unit, rad, condensor maybe?, alloy rims, alignment will be needed, than labour.......

what fresco bob said i didn't notice he already wrote this...

EDIT, atleast you moms ok!

most likely a total IF the engine is damaged, the tranny is damages, driveshafts are damaged.

looks to me like you need
hood
left fender
front bumper cover
new headlight
new corner light
new wheel (looks like aluminum mag, not hubcap...)
maybe new wheel hub
maybe new strut
maybe new spring
maybe new tie rods
probably new battery
maybe new air box
maybe new fuse box (not sure if gen 4 fuse box is when the gen 3 one is...)

biggest problem is your frame being out of whack... sometimes if it is too much out of alignment, straightening it is not an option because the whole car might still be out of alignment.

I would say its anywhere between 5 and 8 grand for a body shop to fix. the only way to really find out is to have the bodyshop look at it. Good luck.

TRD, i think the radiator and a/c condenser should be fine, cause it was a side impact hit not front. it doesnt look like the damage extends that far in, just the headlight is taken out so it looks deeper...
