estimate on what it would run on quarter mile ? mmmmm if a stock5sfe can run anywhere between mid 17s to anywhere in the 18s.. i say itd be somewhere from high 15s to anywhere in the 16s.. Id actually be very happy with 16s ehhe. As far as 0 - 60 i cant really say.. but i know onething for sure.. its waaaayyyyyy faster than it was before lol.. first gear takes it up to 40 in no time.
Ross, owner of Ripp Modifications said he felt the engine could handle up to 11psi and said it was limited by the cams (correct me if im wrong Ross). He said he wanted to show everyone how much power the engine could produce on stock internals and at 11psi before he did any upgrade to the internals. When i first got the kit it came with the 4.5psi pulley but i upgraded to the 5 - 6psi pulley and i feel its running really good and very reliable. Ross is thinking of making the 5 - 6 psi pulley as stage1 for the kit putting around 150 - 160hp and tq at the wheels for automatic. I really think i couldve layed down closer to 160 at the wheels if i didnt have to do so many runs.. my 150hp and 152ft.lbs tq numbers are the numbers i layed down after 23 back to back runs on the dyno within an hour and a half and the engine was HOT !!. So the max for the engine with stock internals is about 11psi with the water\methanol injection kit according to Ross.. theres pretty much no limit to how much you want to boost.. of course you will need to do internal upgrades for anything pass 11psi
I know some what about cars, but not as good as adding a forced induction system. How much would it be to have a tuner shop install the rippmods system? (approx. cost) Or does ripp mod HAVE to do that for me?
I wonder what the 0-60 time is also. My Solara does on average 15 secs. Did it myself on straight road. No breaking, no neutral stops.
They have the engines mixed up. 8 seconds for 0-60 is for the 1mz-fe, the 5sfe should be about the same as any camry with it.
15 seconds? Sure your not going uphill with that time? I got mine at under 11. Try it again on a flat strait road to make sure. I got a bad time initially of 13.4, did it again and I'm getting under 11 consistently.
Well i did a couple of 0 - 60 runs tonight.. one with a friend in the car who timed it for me and the other i timed myself. I did the run without any torque or neutral drop and ran 8 - 9seconds on both runs.. not race care time or anything but the car carrys its weight alot better.. it really starts to pull at 60mph.. i guess its cause its already rolling lol. I really notice a difference on highway when the car is already rolling.. it picks up really really nice but off the line.. its alot better than before but its still only a 4cyl pulling a 3100lb car ehehe.
Nice! That would be a nice improvement for my Gen3. Almost tempted to take it to 9PSI. What boost level would you think would be need for a 7 sec 0-60?
i duno lol.. 9psi sounds like it would do the trick if i can get somewhere in the 8s with 5 - 6psi. It might be high 7s though lol 5spd would help so much on launches and weight loss too.
