last weekend my car died in the middle of the road. i had it towed to my house. i had some people listen to it, and it was determined that the timing belt was fucked. so i took off the timing cover and that shit, and the timing belt had come loose. later while attempting to replace it, i found a big crack in it, so thats what happened.
well i fixed that, got everything back together and started it up... now it actually started, BUT i hear a bunch of knocking sounds, like some piece of metal is runnin around in my engine... SO i call up my supra boy. he come over, hears the sound... instantly, he says your engine is fucked, your threw a rod bearing.
so... we take the exhaust off, and upen up the oil pan. yup... theres pieces of metal in there... i didnt find a whole bearing yet, but maybe i will. so now i gotta get a new engine, from a junk yard, and throw that in. shouldnt take more than a few days of work... but its gonna cost me between 5 and 7 hundred for the used 5sfe engine with around 100k miles on it.
also, my oil and coolant are mixing, which indicates a blown head gasket too... so its new engine time for this boy...
sorry to here that man. My freinds car recently blew his timing belt and ended up bending all of his valves, and haveing to mill the head. Nothing as bad as yours. Good luck to your fix.
at the time, normal driving... but from time to time, i push it hard.
i was lookin around and i can get a 3vz with about 80k on it for like 700 bucks, a 00 solara tranny with 75k for 250. so i may swap in a v6. i already have most of the parts i will need plus a performance clutch and flywheel from that. then i would be able to buy jons car though... but i'd have a fairly new v6.
