Re: camry noise

Join the "thump" club.........I think it has something to do with the struts, I haven't gotten mine checked out yet.

especally with stock springs! Also I have a gen 4 and I have the same problem with my H&R + Tociko setup. Have your strut mounts checked and see if they went bad, bad strut mounts can cause the struts to sound bad and make it sound like the struts clunk.......did you put them on yourself or did a shop?

is it comming from the front ???
i had this sound from my passinger front strut

if from the front then its for sure spring clearance issues

what happening is the spring is contacting the bottom spring seat. If you jack your car up and look or feel with your fingers the paint on your spring is probably rub off....

If you find this on your springs a quick fix i figured out is to rotate the bottom springs seat about a 1/8 of a turn clockwise

If you dont know what piece im talking about, its the part of the strut that the springs sits on. It has a little tounge that supposed to be alligned with the sturt. simply take a crow bar or something similar and use the tounge and strut as couples and turn til that tounge thing is about 1/8 turned clockwise

i dont know if this is bad for your alignment or not .. but my wheels still look and drive staright

strut mounts, sway bar links, loose bolts on the strut towers, worn spring insulators....

if you cheaped out when they wanted to replace stuff when you got the struts installed, you`re paying for it now

i had this struts and springs taken out three different times by three different people. the last people to work on it was the toyota dealer and i replaced everything that delt with the struts and the springs. Still make that noise. I am thinking about just putting in the stock springs and cuting them 1/2 a turn. would that be a smart thing to do. Need opinions and some ideas to help fix this problem. Remember i am not the only one with this problem so you just wont be helping me out you well help everyone else with this problem. thank u
