Frozen Radio Antenna

I have a 1995 Toyota Camry with a radio antenna that goes up and down when the turns on and off. During cold temperatures, my radio antenna freezes up and either does not go all the way up or down causing bad radio signal. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

You might try a silicone lubricant applied while it's up and not iced. I just spliced in a toggle switch which I mounted in one of the trunk liner holding retainers near the right hinge. As winter approached I flipped the switch to prevent it from lowering for the winter. This kept it from breaking and gave me reception.
