theft deterrent system

i sat in the car with all the doors/hood/trunk closed, and i used the remote to lock everything.
waited a minute or 2 and then manually unlocked the driver door and opened it. no alarm

is this normal..?

the manual claims to have an indicator light for the security that's supposed to flash, and so i sat in it in my garage, and made it pitch dark inside, locked everything again and didn't see any flashing light..

should i take this to my dealer?

thanks

when the theft device is armed, the light is solid. when unarmed its flashing. and when the key is in, the light is off.
