Life expectancy?

How many miles could I expect out of my Toyota Camry V6 XLE? I have 150K+ on her and it's still running strong. I'm here in the Chicago area so that gives you an idea of how our weather is.

I change the oil no more than 3500 miles apart. I always use Pennzoil or Mobil 1 and a good oil filter.

Thumbs up

Edmond,
Of course it all depends on use, and maintenance. There is a Toyota dealer in Georgia (Atlanta?) that took in a early 80's Reg. cab pickup with the 22R engine this month that has over 500,000 miles on it! It is on display in the showroom from what I hear. I also have heard that an old cressida (Ibelieve) was traded in with over 1MILLION miles!!! (Supposed to be the highest mileage Toyota ever traded in) My father in law has a P/U with over 400K on it... You have a good car. Enjoy it and take care of it and it should last you very long time.

I have a 1994 Camry V6 with 200,000 miles. Most of the mileage is highway miles. I am using Moble 1 synthetic 10W30 and change the oil and filter at 12,000 mile intervals.

I would just like to comment that if you are using synthetic oil you should never have to change your oil with less than 5000 intervals. Realistically that oil can last up to 18k plus some (with filter changes). Here's a real world study on Mobil 1 and Amsoil proving it.

I'm glad to say that since then, I still only have 159,000 on the car. I don't want to put that many miles on the car. But I've been changing 3,000 miles. I stopped using Pennzoil because one of the forum members told me that it's crap. Factor that with it being so cheap at Wal Mart and I would think that he's right.

Made the switch to Valvoline and it's been alright so far. Though I do believe I am getting some leaking somewhere. I think it looks like the valve cover. I'm used to working on Chevy's, not Toyota's.

You could probably go another 150,000 miles.

Just take care of it and do preventive maintainence.

My buddy has a 95 Tacoma with 300,000+ miles. Original engine & tranny. It still runs.

85 carolla 326K nothing wrong until a lady t boned
91 camry 389K minor things like a starter, alternator, etc. wet pavement and rear-ended someone
94 pickup 334K new exhaust and that is it, still runs

They definetely hold up! And they are also some of the easiest cars to work on. I can change oil in ten minutes, breaks in fifteen.

With a little care, that vehicle should easily get you to 250,000 miles or more. I had 190,000 on my old Toyota truck and never had any major problems with it (until I got t-boned by on SUV). I now have a 2004 Tacoma and plan on having it for at least 200,000 miles before I decide to sell it (toyota's hold their value extremely well- I got $3,750 from the insurance company for the 1988 4wd truck that got totalled in the accident)

my 5sfe 1996 camry has 145k miles on it, and sounds and drives as the same as it was bought in 1997.... my friend had a 24 year old toyota pickup with 390k miles.... and now finaly the headgasket blew on him... i guess thats what happens when the oil leaks, and runs on little to no oil sometimes running at max rpm's for miles and miles aday (300+ miles a day)
