The only thing lowered seems to be my bank account.
I just installed some tokico blues with vogtland lowering springs on my gen 4.5, 2000 I4 camry. Before I get to the bad news though, let's start with the positive shall we?
- The ride is awesome. Very stiff but still comfortable. My car no longer bottoms out in dips and I don't bounce when I go over speed bumps anymore. Overall, the car is handling very well with the tokicos.
Now, onto the bad news:
My car's height looks exactly as it did before I took it to the shop. The vogtland springs advertise a drop of 40mm, which I think is 1.5 inches for the gen 4.5 (correct me if I'm wrong), but my car's height still looks stock. The fender gap is so big that someone threw a basketball at my car and IT GOT STUCK IN MY FRONT FENDER WELL!!! ok, maybe not but you get the point.
But really though, does anybody have any clue what could have went wrong? It's only been a day and I have been told that the springs need time to settle but that's ridiculous...a 1.5" drop should have been somewhat noticeable immediately.
I will post a pic but all I have is my camera phone which takes really crappy pictures. I'll toss it up tomorrow and hope it turns out well.
Someone please tell me that I didn't get ripped off. I am so upset right now. Does anybody else have vogs installed on their gen 4/4.5? Please help! I'm 230 dollars in the hole from my installation job. I don't want to have to replace them again because I won't be able to pay for my mother's cancer therapy this year...just kidding

I really really really hope you're kidding about this....
Anyway, I don't know anybody with vogs on so can't give you a comparison of how low it should be. Did you take a look at the springs? Are they really vogs or are they still stock? What about the rear, did it drop?
Never heard of springs settling 1.5", especially when it hasn't dropped at all... Is it a reputable shop?
post a pic to show us your drop right now......cuz maybe your stock was already riding lower than most....my buddy's stock gen3 i4 rode low enough stock to have problems going over tracks while I flew over them w/ no probs while stock.....
and also....you paid 230 bucks for installation?!?!?!?!?

Give the springs about a week to settle, they will be lower then. But it wont be dramatic, I have a Full TRD setup on my ride, it is not that low, but atleat I don't have to worry about scrapeing. It is the ride quality that matters. Besides, that 1.5" drop is not something you would notice significantly anywayz. I hope you get the point. Anyway check out pics of my car on the Camry forum if you want to see my drop, it is probably the same as yours.
Originally posted by Oldman well maybe your old springs were already showing signs of weakness, did you pack a bunch of people and lots of gear in it often?
new springs also do take a little while to settle
The only things that went in my trunk were a 100 lb sub box and my spare tire. Nobody rides in my car besides myself, but my car was preowned for about a year and a half. I did notice though that one side of the car was higher than the next when i first bought it so maybe the springs were already exhibiting wear?
SilverStreak:
The shop is fairly reputable and the back does sit kinda low, but the front is still awfully high. Yes, they did put in the springs that I purchased because they returned my old parts and I can see the new springs. And yes, I was kidding about the cancer thing.
I tried to take a picture this morning but it came out so crappy. Ugh.
How much drop does a camry need to get the front down to about 1 finger? I have almost three right now in the front and about 1.5 in the back.

Camrys will always have more gap in the front because the wheels need clearance for when you're turning and hit a big bump. You don't want your wheel rubbing the fender in that situation...
Vogtlands are designed to be even... do you have an i4 or a V6? If you have an i4 you might have gotten the V6 springs by accident.
Also 1.5" isn't going t be that noticeable even if you have 17" wheels, even less noticeable if you're still on stock wheels.
Even with a 2 finger gap all round I still don't really think my gen 3 looks all that low.
...and now I've developed this paranoia that one corner is sagging. lol.
