i've seen my car go up on teh lift in my mechanics.. but i've never seen him put the lift on that part.. so ... i think u got some thing wrong there.. he puts it in the inner part right behind the part you have bent..
when ever i changed the tires on my rents gen 3 i would always put the jack where theres two little grooves, nothin wrong with it so far, but then me and my buddy were changin the tires on his moms jeep, and i put the camry jack in the same sorta spot but it just bent the metal real bad, after that we found the jeep jack, and that one went on the axel, worked much better
the frame is where that spot is, and also right behind that metal thingy......if you're using the stock jack, then put it in the grooves so that it won't slip, and if you're using a floor jack, then put it right behind, but on the frame

So im not the only one? I dunno; but now I feel a little better. I just thought that this was something really abnormal that never happens.
I get really scared when jacking the car up because it looks like its gonna fall. And what makes it worse is that everytime I raise it up, I hear all these creaking sounds like the sounds a creaking hull makes on a ship. And I try to change the wheel as fast as possible just in case. I changed my flat the other day in 4 minutes. I timed it.
