scary clunk in left front during slow

right hand turn with a big bump, like coming out of driveways. I changed struts but mounts seemed ok. Car drives great otherwise.

The clunk is once on the downstroke and another on the rebound.

Tie-rods? Strut mounts? CV joint?

It's a 1995 4 cyl LE Gen3.5 with only 37k miles, super clean, no rust issues or whatever. New struts are KYB GR-2 with original springs, no drop.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Damn that car has NO MILES ON IT! I have a similar knocking sound also while backing out of my drive way and turning hard to the right while rolling slowly. I wanna get rid of it also. Try putting some more air in your tires, it seems to reduce the resistance put on the sterring system, or at least make the clunking noise muchless noticable. But, I dunno...

It's my wife's car. She had 16k miles in 1/2000 when we met, she got it new with 17 miles in 5/95!!! It's super sweet, fully documented. We even did the timing belt at 21k miles/5 years. I throw down the challenge, is there a nicer example (clean stock category) around? I dunno, there aren't too many grandmas on this board, and they probably don't do the maintenance like we have to this one.

PS, she drives it EVERY day, believe it or not.

Try moving that trash-can away

Joke aside, Camrys have had strut mount issues - the mounts have been redesigned at leat 4-5 times since '96. Even if the strut mounts are not visibly worn, they may be bad. But Gen3 seem to be better than Gen4 in this, so you might have other issues.

Sounds like it may be near the tire.

It's more of a suspension thing, but it could be the axle. Odd with only 37k miles though. Our roads are nice here too.

Im having the same problem. When I am on uneven roads I here this clunking noise coming from the front left. And when I make turns on uneven roads its even worse. Deep told me it was a broken link,(I think).
