Hey, well my dad gave me his 1989 camry 3s-fe 4 cylinder 5 speed a couple months ago when he bought a new car so i have decided to make some modifications. I was wondering where i could purchase lowering springs. I've looked around but cant find anything for the generation 2 camry! Also i was wondering if there was any good mods for the 3s-fe engine other then an intake? Also I saw this on another camry, he cut his shifter shorter with a dremel tool. It was an automatic though. I was wondering if you could do that with the 5 speed or if there is a problem if you just use a dremel tool to cut the stick shift shorter? And i was wondering if someone could post step by step how to red out the tailights? I kind of have an idea on how to do it but would like to see instructions on how to do it properly. Also are there any turbo kits for the 3s-fe engine? Also post some websites where i could purchase any of the engine mods. Thanks guys, it would be a great help.
i think the general responses will be to do a search. but for the taillights, it is just take them off, then spray with testors transparent candy apple red. but go to http://www.clonegts.com then installs, then Redding out taillights. it's for a celica but procedure is the same. as for turbo kits, i believe toyomoto or something like that once made one, but your best bet would be to do it yourself. i've got almost all the parts for it and will be doing it in a month roughly. talk to 88LE or djprefix for more info. Nopi has a few parts for the 3s-fe (check under the celica GT heading as well).
i think just cutting the stock shifter will mean that the height is shorter, but the throw will not be and more effort is needed to change.
for lowering springs, i think most people over there use Intrax.
i was looking for a list of anyhting that you could possibly do to the engine. I dont want to spend thousands of dollars on it tho. And about the shifter being cut shorter, it would be harder to shift into gear? If anyone has cut the shifter shorter to there 5 speed camry can you give me some feedback?

Headers, intake, exhaust, port & polish head.

Yes. If you cut the shifter shorter you'll have less leverage, which makes it harder to shift.
hey thanks man, how do i port and polish my head? Ive heard of it before but never knew what it meant? And the reason i asked about if the intrax springs for a 86-89 celica would fit an 89 camry was because i found a good deal off ebay but didnt know if it would fit or not.
o alright. Where can i purchase an exhaust system? I have a muffler( just the canister welded to the stock pipes) but would like to know if they sell new larger in diameter exhaust pipes for the 3s-fe? Also if i get headers can you hook the headers right up to the stock exhasut pipes? And oldman, what do you mean swiss cheese my airbox and advance timiong? Can you explain to me the procedure on how to do this?
take a drill with an inch wide bit and drill tons of holes in the bottom part of your stock intake box, less restriction
advancing timing is when you set your distributor a few degrees the opposite way that it rotates, improves high end power but the idle suffers a bit (3-5, maybe 7 degrees)
o alright. Anyone know of any exhaust system pipes? Also i wanna make a custom cold air intake and would like to see pictures and where the intake filter goes? Does it go inside the left front fender where the stock intaker air sucking tube is? The air sucking tube is the thing that is behind the front bumper behind the fender that feeds the air to the intake? Do you get rid of that and put the filter there?
