Engine mounts information

Just wondering how often should they be replaced? My top engine mount, the tourqe mount on my 5sfe is blown, should I rush off and replace it, or is it alright to drive with it blown?

You can drive with it blown, but you'll start feeling A LOT of vibration when driving highway speeds. Anytime you accelerate, since the rubber is cracked and not holding the engine stiff, the engine's gonna move back and forth slightly, but enough to basically destroy the front mount.

Then you'll have to replace the front mount ($120 if I remember right) and if you wait a long time, like the person who owned my cam before me did, you'll end up messing up one or both of your axles since the weight keeps shifting.

$46 to replace it now, and you don't have to jack the car up to do it, just get a torque wrench and/or breaker bar.

If you're already having the vibration, change both mounts at the same time.

I'd go ahead and repair it as soon as possible. I have a mount that went on my '92 3vz-FE and it has ripped the exhaust manifold away from the block.
