Lightbulb Idea For Next Project, using Angels Eyes and Alteeza (Not What Your Thinking)

Everybody has seen the DIY for Angel/Demon Eyes, where you use a dremel to make slots in a round glass tube and insert a LED or similar light source. For the most part the light can not be seen during the day or the lights come out shitty looking.

Here is a concept I came up with using some of the same ideas as BMW.

Well I decided to use the same concept but it apply to the taillights as well as the headlights.

Want I am thinking about doing is using a hollow piece of glass tube and insert the fiber-optic light cable into the tube and power it by a small halogen bulb, I'm thinking maybe 25-35 watt bulb for the head lights and the tails using maybe a 75 watt bulb.

The lights in the tails will work either in conjunctions with the brake lights, turn signals/hazards, or both and maybe with the resevrse lights. I was thinking of housing them in the altezza style tails for the 4.5 Gen Cam and using thisdj78 idea to red out the tails except where the rings will be around the brake lights, and redding them where the ring is around the reverse lights

I would be running them off relays and the lights will be located in a light box maybe.

I'm try to draw something out later tonight.

What do you guys think.

You know, on second thought: if you're going to go through all that trouble, you should do an LED project.......you should still paint the lense red, but put white LEDs behind it.

Grapefury, yeah they will go around the reverse lights.

The brake lights will stay the same as they are in the alteeza set-up except I will have a white or yellow light ring go around the outside. The ring will act as turn signals and hazards.

The Reverse Lights will stay the same as the alteeza set-up, except they will have red ring go around and they will be activated by the brake lights.

The only parts of the tails that wont get painted red is where the reverse lights are of course and maybe where the new turn signal rings will go depending on how they look

the only thing i don't really like about the LED's are the lack of light.. like the halo's on the headlight for the gen4.5 arn't that bright, i may be wrong but i think on some of the bmw's they have a halo that's really bright

Well, it depends on what kind of LEDs you use, here's a Maxima with LEDs that were pretty bright:

earlier BMW models used a 35w halogen bulb, while current ones uses 75w. That is where aftermarket went wrong, alot of them uses LEDs or the slotted glass ring to power the ring.

LEDs can be really bright, the Harrier (JDM RX) uses LEDs alot of trucks use them too as well as cars here now. It just depends on what type of LED your using and the power source.

Ok, becasue of clearance issue with the tails (dont feel like cutting up the tails to make these things fit. It wont go on the tails.

Do the headlights on a do it on a ES300 and it looks sweet, can see them fooker in the daylight better than BMWs IMHO.

I may do these now for the Cam or wait for the HIDS and then do them. What do think?
