USA dash brake light always on

Hello all,

Here's my problem. I have a 94 Camry and the brake light on the dash is on. First let me give you a little info leading up to this. Turned the rotors and changed the pads, both front and rear. The brakes worked great for a few days, then the pedal started to go to the floor again. I checked the MC and saw the fluid level was very low so I topped it off. This took care of the problem momentarily. I took the car to Firestone to get an oil change and they told me I might have a leak somewhere they also added fluid to the MC. I found that one of the front lines was leaking and replaced it. I bled the MC and the brake system, but the brake light is still on. The MC is full, what is causing the brake light to stay on?

You might have a sticking level sensor in the M/C; disconnect it and see if the light goes out. If it does, use the handle of a screw driver gently tap the side of the M/C reservoir. Otherwise, if the light stay on, it could be something else, parking brake switch maybe.

I take it you mean disconnect the wires to the sensor...right?. If this is not the problem, where is the parking brake switch located?

Correct! If the light stays on, the parking brake switch is by the park brake pedal or the park brake handle, can't remember which year is foot parking brake and which year is hand parking brake!

Have you checked the brake calipers to ensure they are not leaking. Not sure if you have rear discs or rear drums . If rear drum brakes you may have a leaking wheel cylinder.
