no deals, that fuks witht the spring rates and shit. if the stock springs are progressive, then your throwing the whole thing out of wack. heating them up is fun but prob. you screw it up just as bad. have fun
yup it messes with the spring rates and the springs may suddenly just break. Not good aat all

if you don't drive your car like a mad man, I suppose it wouldn't be too bad, but if you're planning to go to the track, or if you just like taking turns at full blast, or sliding around, etc then it would probably be a real bad idea.....
remember that when you chop your springs, they also don't sit 100% properly onto your struts/mounts
good luck

yes my fronts have been cut, my dad and i cut 1 ring form the front to make it look even with the back. No problems at all rides like a luxury car should, Good Luck
oh yeah and ive been riding like this for over a year and a half still no probs
I got my car dropped on sprints at all four corners and as everyone knows when you drop a camry with any kind of springs the back usually sits a little lower than the front. I've heard that you can get clamps for the front springs so they are compressed all the time. I was wondering if this would be bad for the spring or could the spring take the extra wear and tear. Has anyone tried to clamp down their springs? I don't want to cut or even heat up my springs for the obvious reasons but the clamp thing might be the answer.

my best friend drives a integra and his springs have been cut for 3 years and he drives the hell outta his car and it still rides good with no problems.
he had the clamps on before that for about 4 months before they broke.
if these are your only options because of funds. I'd say try the clamps first and see how you like the ride and how it looks and if it is what you want go for the chop.
The effect to spring rate is minute to null at best because the Camry's springs are only progressively wound on one end. ...so long as you only cut from the dead coil at the non-progressively wound end.
Heating them up ("heat sagging") will cause the metal to fatigue, become brittle and possibly snap under load.
I have been on chopped springs for years on several different cars, some of which are over 500whp. ...no troubles yet.

yea i had some cut stockies on the front, the drop was awesome, the car would bite me when i hit a large bump though.
i had no problems, but the only danger is the spring falling off of the strut mount. it is definitely not as safe as a spring made for the car. however, for a cheap mod that looks good and works- cutting them has no severe problems (that ive ever heard of).
without any aftermarket struts, you will bounce. i guarantee it. if you are going to cut a spring, i would recommend cutting your stock springs like i did. the spring rate is not as rough as those B+G's or whatever you have. i cut 1.5 dead coils off and got about a 3-4" drop. just be prepeared to recoil 4-5 times on every bump (which both looks and feels ridiculous during driving). theres a chance that it wont be that bad though.
ive ridden in a slammed integra w/ chopped stock springs on stock shocks- and the ride was perfect. probably was good just because the car is lighter.
id have to say that the biggest thing about the look of a car is the ride height. a proportionally lowered car F/R to me looks much better regardless what the car looks like.
