Antenna mast difficulties

I bought an OEM replacement mast for my 95 Camry. I later discovered the motor to be after market so that is an issue of itself. I am hoping it will still work.

What I am having trouble with is removing the special nut from the sheath of the old one. The tip of the mast is crimped and I can't remove it, which seems like the only way to get it off. I could reuse the sheath connected to the nut, but I still have the same dilemma of removal & replacement.

Anyone know how to get that nut off the sheath, or sheath/nut combo from the old mast?

Below is a picture of the new one. The sheath is circled in red. The part with the arrow is what I assume to go under the nut in final assembly.

Thanks.
