Inner tie rods?? -steering problem.
My gen 4 camry (99) has a problem in the steering that I am uncertain on how to repair. When I grab each front tire, and jerk it to the left and right, I hear a slight clunking sound acompanied with some freeplay. Naturally, I thought that this was from worn tie rods, but upon inspecting them, both tie rods are in good shape. Are there also "inner" tie rods on the ends that connect to the power steering unit(opposite the wheel end)? This freeplay is causing my tires to wear unevenly and I would like to repair it ASAP. Does anybody know if this can be repaired or does the power steering assembly have to be replaced?
Thanks in advance for your comments/suggestions.
