Question link pins noise

New rattle in front end of '97 Camry 6 cyl., so had a mechanic check it out. He said the noise is loosened link pins in the ball sockets. He gave me the explanation so fast over the phone that I didn't get it all written down. Something about 2 rods, 1.5 ft. long, with ball sockets, and these pins are inside the sockets. He swore we can drive it forever and nothing bad will happen, that it is not dangerous. Each rod costs $60 plus labor to replace (you have to buy the whole thing). My husband drives this car at 60 mph back and forth to work. We'd like a second opinion (or more) about whether we don't have to worry about this rattle.

U have a nice car Miss. If it's only $60 to fix that rod (even though u couldn't tell us exactly what it is) then fix it, u'll have piece of mind, besides why drive around with that noise any way. Why don't u get clear corner lights and new taillights for ur car from ebay or autodynamic.com or something. Also, for starters get an air intake, numerous companies like AEM, Ractive and really cheap ones on E-Bay, wait don't get the cheap ones from E-Bay. With these things added, u'll love ur car even more. And, change the rod.

camry front end rattle

Hi,
I have a 97 Camry and experienced the same Rattle from the front right end.
When it warms up the sound disappears and when it's cold the
rattle is there on bumpy roads at slow speeds.
I took my car to 2 major suspension dealers (nation wide chain) and they couldn't identify the problem.
My friend (a retired BMW/Benz mechanic) clued in at once.
It's the STABILIZER BAR LINK ROD (which has Ball n sockets at both ends) which is the problem.
It probably has wear & tear in the lining & needs replacement.
ACDelco Part # 45G0078 $45.79
You can find this on the web at ROCKAUTO.COM.
Labour should only take an hour or so.
I suggest you do both (front) ends.
All the best
