recently, my gen 4 did some strange things, first it shakes like there's no tomorrow
and NOW, there are clicking sound coming from the intake area.
no matter the car is cold, or warm, AC on or AC off. clicking sound won't go away.
i am not 100% sure is the problem of the intake, but i did hear sounds coming from the air filter box area, what is under the air filter box, i have no idea.
thanks in advance guys

If its coming from under yoru airbox, then maybe you should check to see if theres anything loose in there. No joke; I had teh same problem and when I checked the air fliter, I found a rock and a lil piece of tree twig in there!
Not everything is a HUGE DIY task. Sometimes simple things can fuck everything up.

I'm getting a loud as fuck clicking sound too but it seems like it's coming from the piping from my exhaust. I had it put on a month ago and it's been making that sound ever since. I went back to the shop that i had the exhaust put on at and they told me it was my "COLD AIR INTAKE". I told them I didn't have a cold air intake and then they told told me it was my Catallettic convetter(I know it's spelled wrong) and tried to sell me one. I didn't buy it cause i thought they were full of shit. It makes that clicking sound while my car is running and after i turn my car off it takes sometimes 30 mins to stop clicking. Does anyone know what it might be?
Thanks

I do have the clicking sound too (like sewing machine) even the engine has been running for 30 minutes. I believe the sound comes from valve area. The car has only 10K with 1MZ engine. Is common problem with this engine at cold temperature ?
Should I go back to Toyota to ask them readjust the valves as Oldman suggested ?
That seweing machine noise is probably from one of your lifters. I have the same problem. But in my car its ALLLLLL the time. And it gets faster with rpm. It wont really harm the engine if thats the case. Its just annoying............

There is one electrically controlled valve for emissions on my gen 3 that clicks a lot...and pretty loud. On my car it used to be located under the air intake tube, so it was visibly hidden. With the car running and the clicking noise present, try to feel each electrical device under the tube and near the charcoal filter box...stay away from the coil! Mine is a blue colored device. When it clicks it sounds liek something is wrong, but there isn't.
I'm not saying it's not the valves...just worth a check to be sure.
If you need a better description of what I'm talking about, let me know.
your lifters are clicking because of the dirt and carbon build up. its normal and it doesnt hurt anything really. i got rid of mine in my old acura legend by using AutoRX engine cleaner that you add in your oil and drive around for about 1500 miles and flush it out. worked really good. search for AutoRX on yahoo. its only 20$ a bottle and its well worth it if you really want the lifters to stop clicking. but i think you got riped off with the timing belt thing.
