Hey guys I'm just going to ask it here since the question doesn't fit into any other category. Do any of you guy fill up your car from Costco? The gas pump will only fill up your car to full right?
Sorry what I mean is that say for example you only want to fill up maybe 3/4 on the gauge. Can you do that or does the Costco pump automatic fill it up until the gas tank is full and the gas automatically shut off.

Their pumps are no different than any other pump. YOu can fill as little or as much (up to full tank) as you like.

A gas pump is a gas pump. Just know how many gallons your tank is and guesstimate how much you will need if you want to put it at 3/4 full. If you wait in line for gas [well, there's only a line when it's cheaper than the other stations] you might as well just fill it all the way up.
I haven't gone to Costco to fill up gas in a while. It's cheaper for me to go to 'regular' stations because I get 5% back on my credit card.

I didn't want to start another thread as this one pertains to mine. I was wondering what gas type do you fill up on. I have a 2009 Camry. Should you invest in the better gas the 93 or just stick to the regular 87? I only use Shell, Exxon Mobile, or Chevron Gas. Also, does the gas injector fluid REALLY WORK? Have you guys seen mileage improvement by using that? I never believe in that crap.
i have a 98 and i run 87. 93 is cleaner but i think if you use 87 and use fuel injection cleaner every now and then it don't really matter. but that's just my opinion. and sorry for hijacking the thread =P

Mid-grade and premium fuels have added detergents that help keep things clean. Chevron's Techron is a very good fuel detergent. Amoco (and now BP) used it as well with their non-regular/low otane fuels. Contractual agreements with Chevron prohibited them from advertising this fact. Other refiners may inject the Techron as well on the mid-grade and premium fuels. I know about the Amoco/P becasue I spent seven years in an Amoco refnery.
The regular/low cctane fuels are what is called fungible. It means that it could come from any refiner. A refiner will inject X barels of regular gasoline into the pipeline at point A and pull X barrels of fuel out of the pipeline at point B. You may buy regular gasoline at a Shell station that was produced by Valero. Some mid-grade fules are also fungible. The premium fuels are almost all refiner specific or what is called segregated. Exxon sells Exxon refined premium, Shell sells Shell refined premium and so on.
The comments in the quote above are essentially correct. Unless youa re driving a Ferrari or Corvette, you can generally get by with regular gas and some fuel additive every once in a while. A good rule to use is to add the fuel cleaner with the next full tank after you do an oil change. I've done this for the past 15 years and I have never once had to replace a fuel injector or do any type of fuel system work other than replace fuel filters which I do every 15K to 20K miles. I have a 96 Ford Explorer with 170K miles that I have owned since 1997 and I've never been into the engine or fuel system after doing this type of maintenance.
wow, looks like you know your stuff. also, if i just pump premium would i still need to add the fuel cleaner? i'm just trying to take care of my car real good so she doesn't have any problems in the long run.
Costco Premium and regular gas is ok.
Add a full can of Seafoam to gas tank twice a year to clean carbon out while driving and it also clean the fuel injector. It's suppose to restore car power and increase fuel economy.

thanks again for your input
I'm in the business, it's related to what I do.
The fuel system will stay cleaner running premium but it doesn't hurt to run the fule cleaner as well. Might be a little over kill but the stuff is pretty cheap.
