Stuck Half Shaft

Im trying to take the half shaft out of my 89 camry. I have the half shaft completely out of the axle hub, but it JUST WONT BUDGE out of the tranny. The manual say that it should come out a bit on its own, and then I need to pop it out with the lug wrench. Well, I've pulled pushed pryed and cried and nothing works. I really dont want to resort to tearing the half shaft apart. Any suggestions?

This is common.

A TN search of past posts should turn up others having this problem and suggestions on how to get the axle out.

Try to use a pry bar to pop the axle out. Insert one end into a slot in the inner CV body or if none then behind it. Use something between the bar and diff housing such as wood to prevent damage and rapidly move the bar to pop out the joint.
