Unhappy Whats wrong with my car??

My car has been really sluggish. When I floor it....there's no response, the rpms go up slowly and it seems like its having a hard time. The car does it frequently especially during start up. Once in a while it'll run fine. Another thing I noticed is that when i really floor it...rpms climb up really slowly then I would hear a loud *thud*....the car would then imediately accelarate faster as if I had nitrous. I already changed the air filter, oil change, and plugs but its still the same. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to diagnose this problem? Thanks I appreciate you help.

I hope you are not implying that you floor it during start up...

My old corolla did the same thing. Turns out only 3 cylinders were firing until at a certin RPM, like 2300 I think it would start to accelerate hard. Bet your also running on 3, go check it out.

Well, what engine do you have? Without telling us your specific engine, all we can tell you is the general things like plugs/wires/cap/injector cleaner/TB cleaner/air filter/tranny fluid/basic maintenance.

Its a 92' Camry with an automatic transmission...rebuilt 5SFE. Eveything is pritty much replaced and the T/B & intake manifold is super clean. Im thinking it might be a faulty sensor. The car has a hard time starting too ...I always have to crank it twice. Could it be the fuel injectors or pump?

I don't floor it at start up, there's enough fuel in the tank, and its not just slow...you can tell there's something wrong with it.
