Timing belt replacement - need suggestions

My wifes '93 Camry 4 cyl (5S-FE) with 168K miles just died.

After a quick diagnosis, I determined that the timing belt had let loose. I have removed the top cover and am having some difficulty removing the harmonic balancer from the crank. I have tried an air impact wrench to no avail. Anyone have another suggestion? I am going to try to get a large breaker bar on it but was wondering hoe I could keep the engine from turning.

Also since I am into it this far and considering the mileage and the fact that I plan to keep the car for a while longer, what other things should I consider replacing. As far as I know the water pump has never been replaced.

Thanks for the assistance.
Charlie

Here is one site I know of offhand with some kind of directions..

The crank is always a bear, soak it. With manual tranny you can put it in high gear and that helps. Keep asking around. Some people weld together their own special tools for things like this.

I wouldn't replace the water pump yet. If it still runs keep it at least untill next time you change the timing belt.
