Hey guys, I want to put a turbo on my ancient Gen2, a la 88LE. Problem #1, the engine has about 205,492 miles, but who's counting? Would a rebuild in effect take some/most of those miles "away"? What exactly is involved in a rebuild, will I have to replace the pistons, rods, anything but the seals and gaskets? Problem #2, I'm a little concerned with my ability and willingness to keep the boost at safe levels, so I am thinking about some forged low-compression pistons. If I would put in the low-compression pistons before I put on the turbo set-up would I be losing HP? Problem #3, am I going to have to make my own downpipe or would one off an all-trac celica work, or any other car really. Thanks guys and wish me luck, I just got a new job so I think I may complete at least half of the 3S-FTE project over Easter break (crossing fingers).

Philly!? YOUR FROM PHILY!!! sh**... Ill be ova in 15 minutes, NJ in da hizzy!...ok so about your question...skip it. That engine will probably blow the sh** up. I was looking at building up my 5SFE which has 171,000miles on it... it is possible, but you should get some info from these f***ers... their cooler than me. But you will need about 800$ in sh** from a 5sFE, specifically the Gen3 series since they are forged and not cast pistons. Ill let these guys tell you all

Rob

so you really think it would cost that much? If that's true I guess I'll just save another thousand and go all out with the 3S-GTE. But I'm still awaiting a second opinion
