OK.... i kno im an idiot for trying.. and i should proly save money on getting a nicer car... BUT ive decided.. to do somethin to the car.. and its gonna be an engine swap.. SO QUESTION IS:
What engines would fit (nicely) into a 94 Camry LE I4 (wut engine model is that neway)?
P.S. i was dinkin that the 3gste would fit, but my car's an auto. so would that interfere?
Engine model is 5SFE
You could fit any engine in it if you got the $$$ to make it work. Here's your costs for some common ones
3SGTE (mr2 Turbo) - $5000+ to swap that in
2JZGTE (Supra Turbo) - $20000+ to swap in because you have to rework your frame to make the car Rear Wheel Drive
1MZFE (Camry V6 - 94.5 - Present) - $3000? much easier
3VZFE (Camry V6 - 92-94.5) - $3000 or less, somewhat easier
for the 3sgte, get a E153 tranny from a Solara, use the tranny mount for that, and you've done a good thing.
I'm putting the 3s-gte in my 93 Camry and it's gonna run about 4,000 altogether. 2500 for the engine, tranny, hubs, wiring harnesses, etc. 1500 for the shop to install everything. Just figured i'd let you know..............

if you're not sure if it's possible,
if you don't know how much a 3sgte should cost,
if you don't know if the celi or the 2 engine is better for your car,
then you haven't done enough research yet.
use the search button.

if you want to do the 3sgte swap, or any swap for that matter, you should talk to carl at speed-source. you are pretty close to one of the best in the business. the v6 swap is a bit more straight forward, but upgrading the engine is more challenging.
Yeah talk to speedsource, that guy who just posted actually has a 3sgte swap done...

Start simple, then progress...
5sfe+ supercharger (+85-100hp)= around 3000-3500 depending on options
5sfe+ turbo (+65-150hp)= around 2000-3500 depending on options
1mz-fe v6 (+60 hp)= around 3000 (I am almost done doing this...)
3vz-fe v6 (+50hp) = around 3500 (different wiring system, a lot harder to match with a 94... trust me. I have a 5sfe, a 3vzfe and a 1mzfe... the 1mz is in my car now...
Supra engine, 7mgte, 1jzgte, 2jzgte (+100ish hp) = as much as it would cost to buy an mkiv supra with a 2jzgte... REDICULOUS SWAP!
Yeah dude, DO A SEARCH... there are so many engine swap threads that have been started by dumbass noobs who know nothing that they are just pointless now...
If you need a new engine for your camry...then i'd just stick with a newer 5sfe engine...(judging by your questions). I'd tell you to use the money you were planning on the swap..and use that to buy a gen 5/6 celica or mr2 and drop a 3s motor there. Its more MULLA this route...but a 5s low milage motors go for close to 750+750 for the install = 1500 for a newer motor car! the other project you can buy as you collect/save
Zoni,
you don't have to pick on people just because they don't know about what type of engine they can stick in their Camry. I didn't know either until I talked to the Wraith. People come to these forums to get help from people that know a lot about cars and can steer them in the right direction. The threads I posted on Camryman.org didn't go to waste. I'm going to put a 3s-gte into my Camry. The Wraith and others(thanks to everyone that has helped me) helped guide me in the right direction.
I'm not trying to start anything. It's just not cool when you make fun of people that are asking questions because they want to learn.
