Should I...?

I'm thinking about getting the TRD supercharger for my 99 solara but i am not sure if i should with almost 75k miles on my car. Its a 5 speed V6 and in great condition. It runs like a dream but is that too many miles to add a supercharger? Thanks in advance for the response... -dan

Your complaing about 75K miles? I have 205000 miles on my 93 camry and I'm getting it supercharged. I'm new to his and asked the same question. What I got back is check the cylinder pressure, make sure it's got a good seal.

sheesh, 205K miles. even if the compression is fine, i would rebuild it. the second you boost your engine its putting a lot of strain on parts with 205K miles. you might get lucky, but do you want to take that risk?

That's a lot of milage to be super charging your motor, like jwa276 i would get the engine rebuilt first.

you shouldnt run into any problems, especially if youve not been too hard on the engine (revving high all the time), and as long as you keep the supercharger at stock boost. if you wanted to raise the boost to 6/7psi you would be pushing it a little- but still probably be ok. the camry v6 engines have been known to last well over 200K miles. if i had my parents 00 solara v6 5spd i would slap a s/c on it any ol' day!

http://www.rippmods.com/products/pro...m&productId=97

It's only all over this site.

Look about four spot down.

ok gotcha. when are you planning on boosting your engine then? and do you think you will rebuild beforehand?

I'm gonna replace the block with one from importperformance parts with a storker kit. After I get that done and running well the supercharger will follow. Hoping for around 200whp. What do you think? Any ideas?
