Cold Weather is affecting my car ( need Advise )

guys ...

ok here's the scenario .. i'm driving home from work 10 pm.. got off the highway probably about 22 degrees outside.. i driving for atleast 3 blocks off the highway.. so i'm heading home but for some reason i've noticed the engine rev's down slower then normal.. like when i'm in 3000rpm's and i let go of the gas that instant.. the rev meter stays there and i feel the engine still at that point .. for about 2 secs and then it slowly drops ( back to normal ) that happen all the way home .. i noticed it yesterday but didn't pay any attention to it till tonite.. recently i've changed the distributer on my her.. .. at first i thought it was only like a sticky gas pedal or something but now i'm beginning to think its something else..

its a 92 LE w/ close to 150,xxx miles on it.. also i have another problem.. concerning the steering wheel.. i noticed it got stiff lately .. i'm not sure if its the cold weather that we're having but i've check the fluid..and is full.. i've got those stablizer bars that i bought from ebay..

oh yea .. i tested it tonite .. like putting the car in neutral and reving the engine .. it hangs on what ever rpm i leave it and when i got home and i rev the engine .. nothing happen.. i guess it got back to normal..

so guys please give me some pointers.. on where to check.. what to do .. i'm totally confused..

Joey

Did you warm it up? That happens with me only when the car is cold. And about your steering wheel, its stiff ALL the time? Or just when your parked and turning the wheel? Have you tried checking your tire pressure? Cuze the cold weather is wreaking havoc with my tire pressure. One minute it looks like it needs air, the other it looks fine.

P.S. I think I saw you on the highway today.

ok guys... i think my steering pump has left me and gone to car heaven... after i left work tonite.. and got home from the parkway.. as i turn in the local streets.. the steering got so stiff... it did that all the way home... so i'm gonna take her to the mechanics tomorrow... but i wanted to know if thats the symptoms.. i checked at a gas station and the fluid is all there.. couldn't find any signs of leaks.. b/c its so dark outside..

well hope i can get some feedback before i go tomorrow .. i'll keep u guys updated

oh yea if it is the pump.. if i don't fix it can i still steer.. or no? my guess is that i cna still steer but just w/ more muscle power?

That sounds about right... if you've still got fluid I don't know what else it'd be other than the pump. And now you can steer AND get an upper body workout at the same time! Sweet!

)yah, you can still steer the car without the assistance of power steering. BUT, do NOT F- up your alignment by trying to steer without the car moving. Man, I've seen too many idiots (coming out of a parking spot) who turn their steering completely to one side....WITHOUT the car moving an inch!

I've noticed that cold weather affects the car a LOT...not just the things you've listed, WickedGen3. I've noticed that my steering is stiff too, but that's only before the car has COMPLETELY warmed up. Usually after a period of ~5min drive, the steering frees up.

However, I have been having problems with my wipers. The things move so damn slooooooow!! I'm thinking it might be the motor, but then it doesn't seem to have problems in the summer (*quietly* or maybe it's b/c I have 2 diff wiper blades on )
