resonator

i took my resonator off a few months ago and you guys are talking about when you take it off you get a deeper sound....i dont get that is there any reason all i did was take the front bumper off and take the resonator out and put the bumper back on.

don't forget you have 2 resonators. one on the bumper you removed... and one in the engine bay in between your intake pipe/airbox to the manifold .... it looks like a jug... should be next to your maf sensor...

not sure what year you have but that's the resonator which will yield more sound at 3-4k revs...

as for the one in the bumper... after you remove it, there is now a dual intake function because one is sucking it from the front grill area and the second is the wheel well area.

if you want just sound...you should go buy a filter and just drill a hole for the temp sensor

what's nice about this mod is you get to keep your stock airbox... which has somewhat of a cai function... and it will have a louder sound and if the resonator in the engine bay is restrictive in anyway, then that will give you a bit of an increase..

marginal difference though..

so ya what car do you have? i'll help you get that thing off depending on what year you have...

I think when people say deeper sound from removing resonator, it should be the restonator on your exhaust pipe, after the catalytic converter.

it should be the jug between your maf sensor/airbox and intake manifold... and there should be a hose that goes into that resonator.

you still didn't tell me what car you drive... but anyways... just check out this thread, it has more info on what i'm trying to say...

resonator removal gen4

no i mean the intake resonator.

true the exhaust one will be much louder... but removing the stock intake resonator gives it an air filter/intake type of sound without getting the actual filter and/or intake.

so now i have a more of a "roar" at 3-4k rpm and i have a trd highflow air filter so that will help it more... as welll as the bottom wheel well resonator removed as well so there's no air reservoir that air can get trapped or stored into.
