Unhappy Door Locks Jammed/stuck!

I need help! I'm fat and it sucks having to climb over to get to the drivers seat! =T I cannot open the drivers side door because it will not unlock. It is not a freezing problem, I think it is more mechanical, it is a GEN 3 '94 Camry LE 4cyl.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Ive tried pulling the lock to the unlock position but it stays locked. If I stick the key in to unlock it, it doesnt even move all the way. Power Door locks wont push it unlocked either. I've tried prying it the handle but it stays locked there. I live in California so I dont think its a door freezing problem because we get good weather.

Im presuming its a mechanical problem, maybe a latch problem?Im wondering how I can fix this problem without having to go to a dealer or mechanic which would charge me a ridiculous price. If anyone has ever had such an experience or knows how to help, please share!

Please Advise.

Thanks!!

The motor is dead. Same thing happened to my left rear door. I forgot how my friend opened the door. But I know how we changed the motor. I think u can find the motor for around 45 bux. Depends on where you go. Thats how much I got mine for.

Oh wait, you said the problem is with the FRONT door. Hmmm, I think thats a little more expensive. I think u might even have to change your key .

If I were you I'd go to some shop and see how much they'd charge before anything. A Shop OTHER than the dealership.

Successful?

Just wondering if you got the door fixed so that you could open. We have a 94 Corolla that has the same problem with the passenger door lock. This car doesn't have power locks like yours, but I'm sure it's a similar problem. Did you end up paying to get it fixed or DIY? Do you know how they got it open to take the door panel off?
