2.4L supercharger

I have heard that Toyota/TRD will be making a supercharger for the 2.4L engine in the Scion. Does anybody know if the same kit will work in the Gen 5 Camrys and if so how much the kit will price out at? God knows the 2.4L could use a little more juice.

yeh, i was talking to a toyo rep yesturday.

I think it's only gonna get an additional maybe 50 hp. Bring to 200hp I heard. I dunno, sounds kinda like adding a v-6. If u wanted more hp. should of saved and bought the v-6 and u get the same amount of HP basically. That's what I should of done.

This is very true but at least with the 4cyl you can have a 5 speed and there is always the option of raising the boost.

I just read in the new issue of Car and Driver that the supercharger destined for the 2.4L will only blow a disappointing 40 hp. The new 2.4L which will be coming out in the new Scion TC is rated at 160hp. Hopefully, with the right equipment and raised boost levels, 100hp from the superchager will be obtainable.

^^^ Correct me if I'm wrong but at least it's not Eaton-type (centerfugal) S/C which offers more flexibility such as adding a I/C?

The info that I read did not provide any specific product info. If I find anything else out, I'll post it.

You got it backwards.

Eaton is a roots type blower.

Centrifigual blowers are like turbos except belt driven.

Well if it puts out the same hp....i'd rather have the lighter 4cyl...

plus... all those american 6 cyl racers out there will underestimate my power when i say i have a 4........ and then i'll waste em!!!

And yes you can add a IC to a centrifigual blower setup. Good luck adding one to a roots type setup though.
